Sometimes a home search can take months and sometimes it can take just days. In Brittany’s case, it was the latter.

A recent college grad who had just landed her first job … her dream job in fact as a teacher at a Naples Florida elementary school … was looking to move out of mom and dad’s house and into her very first home.

Brittany envisioned a townhome with two bedrooms, two baths, a garage and a lanai with a view. Mom and dad wanted something not too old or dated for their daughter and, as any good parents would, had their eye on safety.

Our search extended from the North Naples area up into Bonita Springs … close enough to work and family without being too close. My research led us to Terra Vista in Estero Florida. Even though it was just beyond where Brittany wanted to live, I decided to take a chance and show it to her anyway.

Originally started by Kimball Hill Homes, D.R. Horton recently took the community over building new four-plex coach homes on the remaining open tracts of land. Terra Vista, which is gated, consists of a combination of four-plexes and attached villas whose residents enjoy the community pool, clubhouse and playground. Best of all, Terra Vista is located west of 41 placing it close to boating, nature trails and kayaking. Plus, it’s just up the road from the popular Coconut Point Mall.

Brittany and her mom immediately fell in love with the first-floor unit, which offered two generous sized bedrooms, two baths, a galley-style kitchen overlooking the living area and lanai, and a single-car garage.

Brittany was excited, mom was excited, even I was excited. Not wanting to miss out on a great deal, the girls called dad who popped over on his lunch break to see the community and the home in person. He quickly gave his stamp of approval.

Rather than waiting for a new unit to be built, Brittany selected a newly constructed unit that overlooks the turtle preserve. What’s great about that is that she is assured that no buildings will be constructed in her back yard since the turtles are state protected.

And because she bought new construction, she benefited from D.R. Horton’s buyer program which gave her $5,000 toward interior upgrades as well as $5,000 in closing costs.

Congratulations Brittany! Enjoy your first home!
